Frequently Asked
Questions What is all
the fun about?
This event will be a poker-run with a few surprises. Each participant
must run 5 laps. At the end of each lap, riders will stop at a check
point where a card will be drawn. The each card drawn at the end of each
of the five laps will be the rider's poker hand. The object is to have
the best poker hand at the end of the run. We'd tell you about the
surprises, but that would defeat the idea of a surprise.
When does the run start?
Riders will be allowed to start the event at 11:00am. There will not be
a gate or hair-scramble type start. Riders will be allowed to start in
groups as large as 5 riders each at time. Groups will be started at
prescribed time intervals. Riders will be allowed to start as late at
3:00pm. No card will be drawn after 4:15pm. Prize award ceremony will
begin at 5:00pm. You are allowed to take a break between laps. The
earlier you start, the more breaks you will be able to take. Keep that
wisdom in mind.
What will the course be like?
Fun, challenging, rocks, roots, hills, ruts. The course will run a
portion of the trails and the motocross track. One lap around the course
will consist of a loop joining the motocross track and off-road trails.
Alternate routes will be in place around the larger, more death-defying
jumps for those who only do their doubles at Wendy's. Sorry, no easy
routes around the hard stuff in the woods. There are a few tricky spots
along the off-road course. But, nothing that should cause a huge
bottle-neck or ruin everyone's day. A ruined day is not in the spirit of
a "Fun Run." Can I run a
quad in the Fun Run?
We strongly advise against it but we are not saying you can't. The trail
runs narrow along trees and there are numerous off-camber sections to
encounter. This will make running a quad more challenging, and that is
against the overall sprit of the "Fun Run." If you have two wheels,
using that machine is recommended. Ride at your own risk. Good luck,
hope you make it, we're not pulling you out of the woods.
Can my kid ride?
Riders under the age of 18 MUST BE SUPERVISED by an adult who will have
full responsibility of the child during the event. The child must be
allowed to ride with permission given by a legal parent or guardian.
Kids who wish to ride in the event, but are not up to the challenge of
the off-road riding portion, may participate only on the motocross
track, drawing a card every two laps around the motocross track. If the
child is only participating by making laps around the motocross track,
he/she must be supervised by an adult who does not need to be registered
to ride and can simply be a spectator. We reserve the right to
require more or less laps for children to draw a card.
What kind of ground rules are
there?
First of all, we want to stress that this is NOT A RACE. There is no
prize for finishing first nor will there be any prize for fastest lap
time. This is not an audition, there is no need to show off. So please,
if there is an obstacle or jump that you are not comfortable with,
please do not attempt it. Next, we will be strict about our 96Db sound
policy. If you are concerned about this, you may want to consider
re-installing your stock silencer. At least replace your muffler packing
if you haven't done so in years. There are may remedies for a loud bike.
Also, watch out for others while participating in the Fun Run. If
someone crashes in front of you, make sure they are okay before you go
on. Be careful of others while navigating the course, especially on the
motocross track. Kids will be running on the motocross track, be sure to
watch out for them. Also, watch out for those who will be negotiating
obstacles such as jumps. You must stay on marked course. We reserve the
right to disqualify any participant for any aggressive or unfriendly
behavior.
When I get there, where do I go?
Parking will be in the Hill Side Parking area next to the store. All
participants must park and unload here. Check-in will be at the
motocross track along with the starting area.
